I set a goal for myself this year. I decided I was going to read 24 books. I read 18 books in 2010 and I didn’t want to set myself up for failure, so I figured that 24 would be a safe number. That was 2 books a month. Totally do-able right? Well, turns out it’s more then do-able when you get yourself a Kindle.
In February of this year I purchased a Kindle and I am now madly, deeply in love with it. I thought I would feel bad, as I love the feel and smell of a new book in my hands, but the Kindle is just magical. It feeds my desire for instant gratification. When I’m reading a series, I only have to wait for the next book now if it hasn’t been published yet and something about that is intoxicatingly delicious for me.
So now my only problem is that I’m already at 16 and I’m on to number 17 now. Of course, this may have been helped by the fact that every book I have read so far was either an Anita Blake book, or a Rachel Morgan The Hollows book. They get me hooked in, and fast, so I’ve been reading about a book a week. I toyed with the idea of upping my goal for this year, but I figure I will let it lie. Set myself a larger number next year maybe. I’m curious now though to see how many books I read this year.
I’m also not sure what to read next. Right now I am on the last book of the Rachel Morgan Hollows series that is out and I’m not sure were I want to go next. I’ve read all of the Anita Blake and Merry Gentry books that are out. I may just finish up with the Pern series, as it would be a nice change from all of the Vampire/Werewolf/Fairy overload I’ve had in the past couple months.
After that though I’m not sure what to read next. My favorite genre definitely seems to be the Horror/Vampire/Romance novel avenue. Anyone have any suggestions? I keep tabs of my read and to-read books over at Goodreads. Maybe take a look over my books and see if you have any suggestions? Or even a favorite book you have read. I’m pretty open and will give just about anything a whirl.
